Acting Teacher

I have been working as a freelance acting teacher and coach for fifteen years. I teach in some of the countries most prestigious drama schools and am currently the screen acting tutor at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. I also teach privately and develop workshops that I teach at The Actors Centre in Convent Garden. As a teacher my ultimate goal is to empower the actor by giving them a solid technique that will support them throughout their careers. I do this by adapting the techniques / theories of some of the major acting practitioners including VioIa Spolin, Stanford Meisner, Stanislavski, Augusto Boal and Lorna Marshal. I encourage my students to work spontaneously using exercises and games designed to encourage instinctive genuine responses. I combine this with a good understanding of text analysis and story structure. Having trained and worked as a professional actor helps me when working with actors. I understand how scary it can be to explore a problem physically without self-censoring every creative impulse. So when it comes to my teaching I incorporate exercises and scenes within the class to encourage the student to meet the material holistically as well as intellectually.

A few quotes from past students:

“Every rehearsal with you has justified why I want to act!” - Andrew Prempeh

“May I say that this has been one of the most valuable experiences of my drama school training, and thus well worth the massive loan repayment...! Thank you so very much” - Mimi Bell

Thank you for yr awesome class on script analysis, it helped me land a lead role in this new Sci-FI youtube.com/watch?v=gwlMqz… - Tara Muir
